Hi Gmaxwell, Thanks for the image of water thread. I suspect that the phenomenon needs no cotton thread for capillary bridging. Your image features a central line (reflection artifact ?) across the bridge which is likely to mislead viewers. If I am correct that there are no thread fibers across the water bridge please add that info to the caption and image description too.
